Abstract

Correspondence, deeds, and other papers, reflecting the history of the Enfield, Conn., Shaker community. Also includes deeds (1848-1855) reflecting lands purchased by the community; letter (Oct. 11, 1848) from Jefferson White, Enfield, to Nathan Freeman, Alfred, pertaining to the shipment of several types of seeds to Alfred; assessors lists (1852-1853) from the Town of Enfield, listing assets of Shaker families; postcard (May 21, 1883), addressed to Otis Sawyer, Sabbathday Lake, Me., from Albert J. Battles, Enfield, expressing sympathy for a fire at Poland Hill, Me.; and two songs (Apr. 4, 1886), with letteral notation, entitled "Dearest Home Above Others of Fathers and Mothers" and "A March."
